USA MADE HSS Aircraft Extension Long Reach Drill Bits
Our latest HSS Aircraft Extension Drill Bits are now available in lengths of 18″, 24″, 36″, 48″, and 72″.
Built for deep, hard-to-reach drilling applications.
HSS Aircraft Extension Drill Bits provide extra-long reach—up to 72 inches—while maintaining the straightness and control required for accurate drilling.
Designed for jobs where standard drill bits don’t reach far enough, these long-reach drills are ideal for deep drilling, obstructed access, and applications where extensions or couplers would compromise accuracy.
Available in 18″, 24″, 36″, 48″, 60″, and 72″ lengths, and manufactured from high-speed M2 steel, these drills are capable of drilling wood, mild steel, and many hard steel applications when extended reach is required.

Applications
- Aircraft and airframe work: reach through ribs, spars and structures where a short bit won’t fit.
- Deep reach through structures: drill through stacked framing, walls and obstructed access points.
- Electrical and cable runs: bore long, straight paths for running wire and cable.
- HVAC and plumbing runs: drill through joists, studs and plates for lines.
- Maintenance and repair: drill deep holes without adding couplers that cost you accuracy.

Usage Tips
- Run at low RPM: long bits whip and wobble at speed. Start slow and only raise speed once the bit is supported in the hole.
- Start supported: use a drill guide or start the hole with a short bit of the same size, then switch to the extension bit.
- Use a pilot hole: for the larger diameters, a pilot hole keeps the bit on line and reduces load.
- Clear chips often: back the bit out regularly on deep holes, and use cutting fluid in steel.
- Not flexible: these bits are rigid and will not bend around corners. Do not force a bend.
